Team work leads to real world learning – pharmacy students case study

At QUT, undergraduate students in their first year of study learn in an interprofessional program: CSB111 – Foundations of Clinical Practice. This unique subject enables health professionals that normally “study in silos” to collaborate and study together, and also introduces first-year students to the Australian health system. A key assessment item is the Health Team Challenge, where students have the opportunity to “pick a health professional identity” then work together on the health team task.

The overarching aim is to educate our future health professionals about collaborative patient-centred teamwork within the Australian health system, to ultimately improve patient health outcomes.
