For LifeFlight Emergency nurse Emily Regus RN, she always knew her calling involved nursing – but she never thought it would result in a career spent high above the Queensland landscape.
A QUT Bachelor of Nursing graduate, Emily soon followed this up with a Diploma in Emergency Nursing, also studied at QUT. However it was the desire to be able to balance the adrenalin rush of emergency nursing with individualised care that saw her transition to a role with LifeFlight.
“I come from a family which avoided anything to do with a career in the health sector, but from an early age I knew I wanted to be a nurse. What I love about working with LifeFlight is the chance to individualise patient care and see the impact of that work during an emergency situation.
“The diversity of the role means one day I can be helping an elderly patient at a small hospital with multiple co-morbidities and the next be dealing with a pediatric trauma case in a large hospital. It is fascinating and very rewarding.
“We go in as a team and hopefully impact the community in the most positive way – through affecting the health of those in a critical state.”
